LIFE WITH THE LIONS

Rugby and travel adventures in Australia following the British and Irish Lions tour of 2001

A ageing ex-rugby player follows the progress of the British and Irish Lions 2001 tour to Australia.

Travelling all around Australia for three months largely by bus and train and using budget accommodation was a great opportunity to discover the real Australia. Places visited included Broome in the far NW, to the southern latitudes of Adelaide, Cape Tribulation to the North and a multitude of places in between.

Cane toad racing in Queensland, gate crashing a Rugby VIP reception in Brisbane and sailing the Whit Sundays were some of the highlights as well as meeting innumerable fellow rugby fans and ordinary Aussies in pubs and bars throughout the land.

In a similar vein to “Following the Rising Sons – Rugby Adventures from South America to Japan” this is an entertaining and humorous read linking a love of rugby with a passion for travel.
